Graduating from Penn State University in Pre-Med and Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia with his Medical Doctor Degree and completion of his family practice residency at Saint Vincent Health Center in Erie, Gary established a family practice in Colorado. Not only has Gary maintained a successful private practice, Gary has worked with other local agencies providing care to those in need. Gary's love of the outdoors developed during his high school years continues and his hobbies are camping, backpacking, fishing, alpine skiing, mountain climbing, rafting, snorkeling, whitewater rafting, scuba diving, bike riding and shooting. Gary combined his love of climbing with his physician's degree by volunteering to be the physician providing medical support to the climbers on Mt. Gary "summated" Kala Pattar which was at 18,192 ft. above sea level. Gary has also climbed 25 of Colorado's 54 mountains that are 14,000 or greater feet above sea level. He "summated" Mt. Kilimanjaro in October of 2000. Gary used his skills as a skier to attend injured skiers as a member of the Monarch Ski Patrol and participated in the second largest search and rescue effort in Colorado history on Tanner Peak.

Other interests of Gary include astronomy, genealogy (generated a family tree covering 12 generations, over 500 individuals), and coin collecting (collected 1406 of 1411 20th century American non-gold coins). Gary is listed in many publications of Who's Who and is a member of Mensa.
