The Girard School District Foundation is looking for a qualified applicant to fill a director position of the board.  This position is open for an alumni or friend of the Girard School District wanting to support the learning endeavors of the students.

The Girard School District (GSD) Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to seeking public partnerships to enhance educational opportunities for students and staff of Girard School District through the financial support of special programs, activities and projects which may not be funded by tax dollars.  The GSD Foundation also continues to grow an endowment to ensure the future stability of its mission.  Grants, student scholarships and project-funding are administered through a volunteer Board of Directors.

 

Role of Directors

GSD Foundation directors should have a genuine interest in the mission, vision and goals of the Foundation and be willing to use personal time, influence and specialized or professional knowledge for the benefit of the students and staff that will be supported through the Foundation's work.

 

Responsibilities of Directors

Serve as ambassadors of good-will for the Foundation, carrying the Foundation message to groups or individuals.

Directors are asked to serve on committee(s) and assist in enlisting volunteers as needed to carry out the work of the Foundation.

Cultivate and solicit prospects for charitable giving within the missions, vision, and goals established for the Foundation.

Attend meetings regularly to ensure the effective functioning of the Foundation.  The board meets in the evening on the 1st Thursday of the month in the Girard High School library.

Board members should be influential citizens, exemplary in business, community and education service, and of the highest moral character and ethical standards.  Due to the close relationship between the GSD Foundation and the District, it is imperative the board members are compatible with the Girard School District policies, goals, operations and administrative staff.
