  • Faculty and staff can apply for grants.
  • Grants are submitted to the principal of the building where the applicant works.
  • The principals determine whether or not the proposed project meets Girard School District (GSD) educational guidelines and forwards all applications to Michelle Doritty, within three business days after deadline.
  • Michelle Doritty scans and emails applications, along with a score sheet, to the assistant superintendent, superintendent, and GSD Foundation Grants Allocation Committee members, within three business days after deadline.
  • Assistant superintendent determines whether or not the proposed project meets GSD educational guidelines and notifies the GSD Foundation Grants Allocation Committee members, within five business days after the deadline.
  • GSD Foundation Grants Allocations Committee has five business days to review and score applications.
  • GSD Foundation Grants Allocations Committee will meet within five business days to discuss scores and select grants to be awarded.
  • The chair of the Grants Allocations Committee will verbally report at the next GSD Foundation meeting listing all the grants received, present the selected grants and request the GSD Foundation Board to vote to approve grant funding.
  • The President of the GSD Foundation Board will notify the applicants of approval or rejection within six business days after GSD Foundation meeting.
  • Purchases are made through the GSD requisition system.
  • Participants should submit a completed district requisition form, using assigned budget number, to your building principal within 30 days of notification, along with a copy of the detailed budget you submitted with the grant application. Any fundamental changes in items to be ordered must be approved by the GSD Foundation.
  • Participants are required to submit an interim progress report May 1st and December 1st for fall and spring grants respectively to the GSD Foundation.
  • Participants are required to submit a one-page typed final report, which describes how student learning has been enhanced, with recommendations for possible future use of these ideas at the conclusion and a minimum of ten electronic pictures of the project to the GSD Foundation. This report is due December 1st and May 1st for fall and spring grants respectively.

Deadlines for Fall 2020

Due to the delayed start of the 2019-2020 school year, all 2020-2021 grants will be awarded in spring 2021.

  • Application deadline is 9:00 am, Wednesday, October 7, 2020.
  • Applications sent to Michelle Doritty, by 9:00 am, Tuesday October 13, 2020. (Monday is Columbus Day)
  • Packets emailed to assistant superintendent, superintendent and GSDF Grants Allocations Committee by the end of the day, Thursday, October 15, 2020.
  • Assistant superintendent determines whether or not the proposed project meets Girard School District (GSD) educational guidelines and notifies the GSD Foundation Grants Allocation Committee members, by the end of the day, Wednesday, October 21, 2020.
  • Grants Allocation Committee members review applications October 22 – 28, 2020.
  • Grants Allocation Committee meets before next board meeting, Thursday, November 5, 2020 to review and decide on selected grants.
  • Grants Allocation Committee brings recommendations to the Foundation Board meeting for approval November 5, 2020.
  • The GSD Foundation President will notify the applicants by November 13, 2020.
  • Teachers receiving awards must order all materials by December 15, 2019.
  • Participants submit a one-page progress report to the GSD Foundation, C/O Michelle Doritty, michelle.doritty@girardsd.org, by May 1, 2021. If you are finished with the project, you may submit a one-page final report and a minimum of ten electronic photos in lieu of a progress report.   • Packets emailed to assistant superintendent, superintendent and GSDF Grants Allocations Committee by the end of the day, Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
  • Assistant superintendent determines whether or not the proposed project meets Girard School District educational guidelines and notifies the GSD Foundation Grants Allocation Committee members, by the end of the, Wednesday, February 17, 2021.
  • Grants Allocation Committee members review applications February 18 – 24, 2021.
  • Grants Allocation Committee meets before next board meeting, Thursday, March 4, 2021 to review and decide on selected grants.
  • Grants Allocation Committee brings recommendations to the GSD Foundation Board meeting for approval March 4, 2021.
  • The GSD Foundation President will notify the applicants by March 12, 2021.
