DICK HOLLIDAY
CLASS OF 1964

 

2012_holliday_hsDick Holliday graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1964. While attending GHS, Dick was an outstanding athlete in baseball and basketball. He was a three year starter in baseball and two year starter in basketball, earning All-County honors in both his junior and senior years. Dick went onto Westminster College where he devoted his athletic talents to the Titan’s baseball team. After graduation, he went on to play in the farm system of the Detroit Tigers.

2012_hollidayDick returned to his Alma Mater and began a 30 year teaching career. During that same period Dick coached football and baseball before deciding to concentrate his coaching talents on basketball. Dick’s ability to get the best out of his players resulted in a record of over 400-100, seven Erie County League Championships, five District 10 Championships, and two State Titles. In 1988 and 1990, Dick was named Pennsylvania Small School Coach of the Year.

Dick was considered a great teacher of young men both in the classroom and on the court.
