Mitch Miller - Class of 2026 Inductee

Mitch Miller

Class of 1977

A member of the High School Class of 1977, Mitch established a strong foundation of academic excellence, leadership, and athletic dedication early in life. During his high school years, Mitch was a two-year member of the National Honor Society and was selected to attend the prestigious Keystone Boys State program at Penn State University. He actively contributed to school culture through the Spanish Club and the Ways & Means Committee, while proving his athletic versatility by competing for four years in both basketball and baseball, earning two years in the Varsity Club.

Continuing his academic journey at Penn State University, Mitch graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. This technical education launched a distinguished professional career in engineering and project management. Mitch served as a Design Engineer and Engineering Manager at AMP Inc./TE Connectivity, where his innovations led to the award of 10 patents. He further demonstrated his technical expertise as a Senior Project Manager at RFMD/Qorvo and lent his skills to advanced research during a year as a consultant and contract engineer at the Wake Forest Nanotechnology Center.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mitch has dedicated decades to community service, youth development, and supporting veterans. He spent years coaching youth sports at the Clemmons YMCA, mentoring Penn State and Wake Forest engineering students, and joining the IFB Solutions Board of Directors in October 2024 to lead fundraising for their Workforce Services. A cornerstone of his civic engagement is his longtime leadership in the Knights of Columbus (Council 9499 and Triad Assembly 2282), where he has served as Family Director, Faithful Navigator, and an active Honor Guard member welcoming service members home with Triad Honor Flight. His deep advocacy for veterans is highlighted by his role as the VAVS Representative for VA facilities in Salisbury, Kernersville, and Charlotte, leading fundraising initiatives like "National Veterans Wheelchair Games" and "Coats for Vets". That type of fundraising and other community outings efforts earned him 2025 Knight of the Year and 2019 NC Knights of Columbus Volunteer of the Year honors.

Mitch's commitment to advocacy took on a personal dimension after experiencing incidences of N-AION (ischemic optic neuropathy) in 2013 and 2014 that resulted in visual impairment. This led Mitch and his wife Kris to connect with IFB Solutions in Winston-Salem, a non-profit dedicated to creating life-changing employment and training opportunities for people who are blind or visually impaired. Beyond his board appointment, Mitch actively volunteers and raises funds for IFB programs like "Tracey's Little Red Schoolhouse" and the S.E.E. summer camps for visually impaired children, turning his personal health challenges into a meaningful mission to empower others.

Mitch and his wife Kris (Hudy) have lived in Clemmons, NC since 1985, where they raised their son Matt and daughter Kara.
