Kathryn Holliday-Darr is a graduate of Rice Avenue Union High School and is married to John Darr. She was a Senior Lecturer in Engineering Graphics in the School of Engineering at Penn State Erie, the Behrend College for 27 years. She also taught Industrial Arts at Girard High School for six years and in Montana for one year. Kathy received her BA in Industrial Arts at the University of Northern Colorado, and her MS in Industrial Arts Education at Buffalo State – State University of New York. Her research and teaching interests included engineering graphics, visualization, and working with freshmen enrolled in engineering technology programs. She is the author of Applied Descriptive Geometry. Kathy was the recipient of the American Society of Engineering Education, Engineering Design Graphics Division Distinguished Service Award (2013) and the 2000 Oppenheimer Award Winner. She also received Penn State’s University’s Provost Award for Collaborative Instruction and Curriculum Innovation (1995) and the Collaborative Instructional and Curriculum Innovation Recognition Award (1996). One of Kathy’s passions is to share her love of engineering with middle and high school students, which is why she was awarded the Penn State Behrend Council of Fellows Outreach Award in 2010 and the 2011 Math Options Vision and Passion Award.
