Who We Are
The Girard School District Foundation is an independent, community, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2010, and is dedicated to sustaining and extending the excellence of the Girard public schools.
Our volunteer organization is managed by a board of directors that includes thirteen voting members, including one member of the Girard School District Board of Directors; plus two ex-officio members: the Girard School District Superintendent, and the Girard School District Business Manager.
The purpose of the Girard School District Foundation is to:
- Enhance educational opportunities for all district students
- Increase public involvement in schools
- Increase initiatives that support quality instruction
- Create lifelong learning endeavors
- Encourage alumni and others to support the Foundation through annual gifts, planned gifts, and memorial gifts
How You Can Help
In these times of a shrinking tax base and rising costs, the Girard School District Foundation's funds will be used as an alternative monetary source for educational programs which would be beyond the capability of and in addition to state, federal, and local tax dollars received by the district. Grant money that is typically designated for use only by charitable organizations may become available to the foundation.
Most donations are tax-deductible and are used for charitable purposes directly related to education. All funds are disbursed by the Foundation through the allocation process.
Donations may be:
- Monetary Donations
- Scholarships
- Will or Estate Planning
- Business Partnerships
All donations may be in memory of someone, in recognition of an educator, or as a tribute to someone special.
The Girard School District has a long-standing tradition of providing students with a quality education and GSDF will continue to build on this tradition of excellence with innovative educational opportunities and student scholarships.
