The Girard School District Foundation is a volunteer organization that is managed by a board of directors that include nine voting members plus four ex-officio members; the Girard School District Superintendent, the Girard School District Business, and two members of the Girard School District Board of Director. The purpose of the Girard School District Foundation is to:
- Enhance educational opportunities for all Girard public school students
- Increase initiatives which support quality instruction and lifelong learning endeavors
- Encourage alumni and others to support the Foundation through planned gifts and memorial gifts
- Advocate and facilitate partnerships between the schools, community organizations, and corporate donors for the betterment of our children
In these times of dwindling tax revenues and rising costs, the Girard School District Foundation’s funds will be used as an alternative monetary source for educational programs which would be beyond the capability of and in addition to state, federal, and local tax dollars received by the district. Grant monies that are designated for use only by charitable organizations may also become available to the Foundation. These funds are not currently available to the Girard School District due to the current tax structure.
Donations are tax deductible and are used for charitable purposes directly related to education. All funds are dispersed by the Foundation through the allocation process. Donations may be:
- Monetary Donations
- Scholarship Funds
- Will or Estate Planning
- Business Partnerships
All donations may be in memory of someone, in recognition of an educator, or in tribute to someone special.
The Girard School District has a long-standing tradition of providing students with a quality education. The Girard School District Foundation will continue to build on this tradition of excellence with innovative educational opportunities and student scholarships. Together the community and the Girard School District Foundation will help provide the ongoing support necessary to increase the educational opportunities for our students.
